If you work shifts, at O.R. Tambo or anywhere else, a washing machine that breaks down has to be fixed around early mornings, late nights and weekends. When you book, tell us when you're home, or who can let the technician in, and we'll arrange a time that suits you.
Some machines that seem to be broken aren't: a child lock left on, a delayed start set by accident, or a door that hasn't quite latched. Others are real faults, from a jammed pump to a failed door lock or a control board that didn't survive a power surge. The technician tests the machine where it stands and tells you what's wrong and what the repair will cost before any work starts.
If the machine has stopped with water in it, our guide shows how to drain it safely.

Washing machine faults we fix in Kempton Park
Won't start
Check the obvious first: is a child lock or a delayed start on, is the door properly shut, and is the tap open? If all of that is fine, the door lock, the door switch or the control board is the likely fault.
Stopped mid-cycle
A power cut, a drain or fill fault, or an overheating motor can stop a machine part-way. Note any error code and what the machine was doing when it stopped.
Dead after a power cut
The surge when the power returns can blow a fuse on the control board or damage the board. Check the plug point and the breaker, then book a technician.
Water left in the drum
A blocked pump filter, a kinked drain hose or a jammed pump. Coins and hair clips are the usual suspects.
Won't spin
An unbalanced load, water left in the drum, a worn belt or motor brushes. See washing machine not spinning.
Leaking onto the floor
The door seal, the inlet hose, the pump or the detergent drawer. Switch off at the wall and close the tap until it's fixed.
Beeps and won't lock the door
If the machine beeps and the door won't lock, the door may not be closing fully, the latch may be worn, or the lock itself may have failed. Check that nothing is caught in the door, like a sleeve or the edge of the seal.
Booking around your shifts
Someone needs to be home to let the technician in. On the booking form, choose today, tomorrow or this week, and add a note about the hours that suit you. On WhatsApp, just tell us your shift times.
If you're at work, a family member, a neighbour or your domestic worker can let the technician in. Give us their name and number when you book, and let them know where the machine is and what it's been doing.
If you'd like a message when the technician is close, say so when you book, and keep your phone with you.
Power cut in the middle of a wash
If the power goes off mid-cycle, the door usually stays locked and the water stays in the drum. When the power returns, most machines carry on from where they stopped or start draining.
If yours doesn't, switch it off at the wall for a minute, then on again and choose drain or spin. If there's still no life, or the display shows an error, book a technician. During load shedding, switching the machine off at the wall protects its electronics from the surge when the power comes back.
After you book
Tell us your shift times or who will let the technician in. Typically at your door within 60 minutes for same-day bookings. Track your technician live: when they leave, you get a live tracking link on your phone.
The technician tests the machine, explains what's wrong and what the repair will cost, and does nothing until you've agreed.
No call-out fee when we repair it.If no repair is done, a R500 call-out applies. The technician finds the fault and explains the repair before any work starts, so you decide whether to go ahead.
Book a repairWashing machine repairs in Kempton Park: your questions
Can I leave my washing machine running while I'm at work?
It's safer not to. If a hose splits or a seal leaks while nobody is home, water can run for hours. If you have to, check the hoses for bulges or cracks first, and turn the tap off when you get back. Delay start lets the wash finish as you walk in.
My washing machine won't start but has power. What should I check?
Look for a child lock or delayed start symbol on the display, make sure the door is firmly shut and the tap is open. If it still won't start, the door lock or control needs a technician.
The power went off mid-wash and now it won't drain. What do I do?
Switch it off at the wall for a minute, then choose drain or spin. If it still won't drain, empty it through the pump filter at the bottom front and book a technician.
Why does my washing machine stop and beep?
It's reporting a problem: often an unbalanced load, a door that isn't locked, water it can't drain or water it can't get. Check the display for a code or symbol, and take a photo of it.
Why is there a key symbol on my washing machine display?
That's usually the child lock, which stops the buttons from working. The manual explains how to switch it off, often by holding two buttons together for a few seconds.
What does a washing machine repair cost in Kempton Park?
Clearing a filter or replacing a door lock is a modest repair. A control board damaged by a power surge costs more. The technician tells you the price before any work starts.
