Edenvale has two kinds of laundry. In the established suburbs of Eastleigh, Dowerglen, Edenglen and Hurlyvale, the machine is often a sturdy top loader in an outside room or a laundry off the kitchen, sometimes one that has served the family for a long time. In the newer complexes around Greenstone Hill, it's more likely a front loader under the kitchen counter, with a digital display and error codes.
Top loaders and front loaders go wrong in different ways, and they're repaired differently too. A technician who knows both finds the fault faster. They come to you, test the machine where it stands, and tell you what the repair involves and what it will cost before any work starts.
If water is sitting in the drum, our guide shows how to drain the machine safely.

Washing machine faults we fix in Edenvale
Top loader won't agitate
The machine fills but the agitator or pulsator doesn't move the clothes. A worn belt, a slipping drive coupling, agitator dogs or a motor fault are the usual causes.
Top loader won't spin
The lid switch, a worn clutch or belt, or an unbalanced load. Top loaders stop spinning to protect themselves when the load is lopsided.
Front loader error code
A code for drain, fill, heat or door narrows the fault down. Take a photo of the display before you switch the machine off, and send it with your booking.
Front loader won't drain
A blocked pump filter, a kinked hose or a failed pump. In a complex kitchen, check that the sink drains too, because the machine often shares its waste pipe.
Leaking
On a top loader, a leaking tub seal, pump or internal hose. On a front loader, the door seal, the pump, a hose or the detergent drawer housing.
Noise through the walls
In a complex, a machine that shakes or thumps carries through shared walls and floors. Levelling the machine and replacing worn shock absorbers usually quietens it.
Clothes still wet after the spin
On a front loader, the machine has decided the load is too unbalanced to spin, or it senses water left in the drum. Spread the load, clean the pump filter and try a spin-only cycle before you book.
Old top loader or new front loader?
A top loader is simple and robust. Its common repairs, such as belts, lid switches, pumps, inlet valves and agitator parts, are affordable, and an older top loader is often worth keeping. The big top-loader repair is the gearbox or transmission.
A front loader is more efficient and gentler on clothes, with more electronics. Its common repairs are pumps, door seals, door locks, heaters and sensors. The big ones are drum bearings, especially on machines with a sealed tub, and the main control board.
If you're weighing up a repair against a new machine, try our repair or replace check. The technician will also tell you plainly if a repair isn't worth it.
Complex living
In a Greenstone Hill townhouse, the washing machine is usually under the counter, so the technician slides it out to reach the hoses and the pump. Clear the floor in front of it, and give us the complex name, unit number and gate process when you book.
Before the technician arrives
A little preparation makes the visit quicker:
- Clear a space in front of the machine and take anything off the top.
- If there's water in the drum of a front loader, leave the door shut.
- Find the tap that feeds the machine, and make sure it turns.
- Have the make and model ready, from the sticker inside the door or on the back.
- Keep pets in another room while the technician works.
After you book
Once you've booked, we confirm the visit with you. Typically at your door within 60 minutes for same-day bookings. Track your technician live: when they leave, you get a live tracking link on your phone.
The technician tests the machine and explains the fault, the repair and the price before any work starts. If a part needs to be fetched, they'll tell you what happens next.
No call-out fee when we repair it.If no repair is done, a R500 call-out applies. The technician finds the fault and explains the repair before any work starts, so you decide whether to go ahead.
Book a repairWashing machine repairs in Edenvale: your questions
Is my old top loader worth repairing?
Usually. Belts, lid switches, pumps and inlet valves are affordable repairs. A worn gearbox on an old machine is the main case where replacing may make more sense.
Why does my top loader fill but not wash?
The drive isn't reaching the agitator or pulsator: a worn belt, a slipping coupling or worn agitator dogs. Sometimes it's the motor or the timer.
My front loader shows an error code. What now?
Photograph the code, switch the machine off at the wall and close the tap if it's leaking. Send the photo with your booking so the technician knows where to start.
Do you take the machine away to repair it?
No. The technician repairs the washing machine where it stands, at your home. It may need to be pulled out from the wall or the counter, so clear a little space around it.
Why does my top loader overflow?
A faulty water level sensor or pressure switch, or an inlet valve that doesn't close. Switch it off at the wall, and close the tap if it's still filling.
What does a washing machine repair cost in Edenvale?
On a top loader, a lid switch or a belt is the more modest repair. On a front loader, a pump or a door lock. Gearboxes and sealed-tub bearings are the expensive ones. You'll know which, and the price, before any work starts.
