Privacy policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This policy explains how Pink Ideas (Pty) Ltd ("pink ideas repairs", "we") handles your personal information when you use pinkideas.co.za or contact us. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible
The responsible party is Pink Ideas (Pty) Ltd. Our Information Officer is the head of the company. You can reach them at repairs@pinkideas.co.za or on 061 402 6299.
What we collect
- When you book a repair: your name, cellphone number, email address, the address where the appliance is, your area, the appliance, what's wrong, when suits you and whether it's urgent. We email you a confirmation of the booking. As you type the address, what you've typed is sent to Google to suggest matching addresses; if you pick one, we keep its map location so the technician can find you.
- When you tap a WhatsApp or call button: a reference number, the page you were on, the appliance or area that page is about, a random session code and whether you used a phone or a computer. This tells us which page you came from when you get in touch. It does not include your phone number.
- When you message or call us: what you choose to tell us, including any photos or videos of the appliance.
- When you browse the site: visit statistics through three services. Vercel Web Analytics counts visits anonymously and does not use cookies. Google Analytics uses cookies to recognise a returning browser, and records the pages you view, how you reached the site, your device and browser type and your approximate location. Microsoft Clarity uses cookies to record how pages are used, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can see where the site is hard to use; what you type into the booking form is masked and never recorded. None of these tells us who you are. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on.
Why we use it
To arrange and carry out your repair, to contact you about it, to keep records of our work and to understand which pages help people find us. We rely on your consent (the tick box on the booking form), on taking steps to provide a service you asked for, and on our legitimate interest in running the business. We don't sell your information, and we don't send you marketing without your permission.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers (operators) to run the website and our booking system:
- Vercel, which hosts the website.
- Supabase, which stores booking requests and contact references in a secure database.
- Resend, which delivers the emails that alert our team to new bookings.
- Google, which suggests addresses as you type (Google Maps Platform) and provides Google Analytics visit statistics.
- Microsoft, which provides Microsoft Clarity usage recordings and heatmaps.
- Cloudflare Turnstile, if it is switched on, to keep automated spam away from the booking form.
Some of these providers store or process information outside South Africa, including in the European Union and the United States. We only use providers bound by data protection laws or agreements that give your information a level of protection comparable to POPIA.
If you choose to contact us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp's own privacy terms apply to that conversation.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and contact records for as long as we need them to provide the service, deal with any questions about a repair and meet our legal and tax record-keeping duties. After that we delete or anonymise them.
How we protect it
Booking records are stored in a database that is not reachable from the public website and can only be accessed by our server and authorised staff. Information sent through the website is encrypted in transit.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and ask for a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to us processing it, or withdraw your consent;
- complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
To make a request, email repairs@pinkideas.co.za. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
