Whether it's in a townhouse in Parkrand or Sunward Park or a family home around Bardene and Impala Park, a front loader washes well and spins clothes drier than most top loaders. But two parts of a front loader take more punishment than the rest: the rubber door seal, which flexes and holds water on every wash, and the system that checks the load is balanced before it lets the drum spin.
So a lot of front-loader trouble shows up at the door, as a leak or a smell, or at the end of the cycle, as clothes that come out soaking wet. The technician comes to you, tests the machine where it stands, and tells you what the repair involves and what it will cost before any work starts.
We repair top loaders and washer-dryers too, and every other common washing machine fault.

Washing machine faults we fix in Boksburg
Torn door seal
Underwire, coins, keys and zips catch in the seal's fold and slowly cut it. The first sign is usually a drip at the front of the machine during the wash. A replacement seal is a standard repair.
Clothes still soaking after the spin
The machine has decided the load is too unbalanced to spin safely, or it senses water still in the drum. One heavy item on its own, a bunched-up duvet cover or a slow drain will do it.
Drum won't empty
A blocked pump filter or drain hose, or a pump that has failed. If the machine hums at the end of the wash but no water moves, the pump is jammed. See washing machine not draining.
Door won't open
Front loaders lock the door until the drum is empty and the lock has cooled. If the drum is empty and it stays locked well after the cycle, the lock or its control has failed.
Knocking during the spin
Worn shock absorbers or loose counterweights let the drum knock against the cabinet. Something caught between the drum and the tub, like a bra wire, makes a scraping noise instead.
Mould in the seal
Black spots in the fold of the seal come from damp that never dries. Clean it and leave the door open between washes. If it's deep in the rubber, a new seal is the answer.
Looking after a front loader's door seal
The seal is the part of a front loader that you can do most for. Check pockets before every wash, and put bras and anything with hooks in a wash bag. After the last wash of the day, pull back the fold of the seal and wipe out any water, fluff or coins. Leave the door slightly open so the seal can dry.
If you see a split, a hole or a section that's gone hard and cracked, book a repair before it starts leaking properly. Water that escapes at the front can reach the electronics under the machine.
Why your machine won't spin
Modern machines are careful. Before they spin, they shake the load around to spread it evenly, and if they can't get it balanced, they spin slowly or not at all to protect the drum and the bearings. That's why a single heavy item, such as a bath mat, a pair of jeans or a duvet, often ends up soaking wet.
Mix heavy and light items, wash bedding with a few towels, and make sure the machine stands level on all four feet. If the load is balanced, the drum is empty and it still won't spin, the belt, the motor brushes or the motor control needs a technician. Our guide to a washing machine not spinning has more checks.

Book a repairWashing machine repairs in Boksburg: your questions
Can a torn washing machine door seal be replaced?
Yes. The seal is held on by a clamp at the front and another around the drum. Replacing it is a standard repair, and the technician checks for whatever cut it.
Why won't my washing machine spin a small load?
A single heavy item, like a bath mat, a duvet or one big towel, bunches up on one side of the drum, and the machine refuses to spin rather than shake itself apart. Add a couple of similar items to balance it, or spin it on a lower speed.
Can I use my washing machine with a torn door seal?
Not for long. A tear lets water out at the bottom of the door, onto the floor and towards the plug point, and it grows with every wash. Use the machine as little as you can until the seal is replaced.
Can I wash trainers and bras in my washing machine?
Yes, in a wash bag. Loose underwire and hard soles can tear the door seal, dent the drum and get caught between the drum and the tub.
What does a washing machine repair cost in Boksburg?
A door seal or a cleared drain is a modest repair. A door lock, a pump or shock absorbers cost a little more, and bearings most of all. The price comes before any work starts.
