Bedfordview kitchens tend to be generous, and so do their fridges: wide double-door and side-by-side models, fridges built into the cabinetry, and fridges with filtered water and ice in the door. They're well worth repairing. A large or built-in fridge is expensive to replace, and the parts that usually fail, such as water valves, filters, fans, sensors, defrost parts and seals, are a fraction of that cost.
The technician comes to you, tests the fridge where it stands, reads any error on the display, and tells you what's wrong and what the repair will cost before any work starts. A built-in fridge comes out of its housing only if the repair needs it.

Fridge faults we fix in Bedfordview
Water dispenser slow or stopped
A blocked water filter is the usual reason the flow slows to a trickle. A frozen line in the door, a failed inlet valve or a faulty switch stop it altogether.
Water tastes or smells odd
A filter that's overdue for a change, or water that has sat in the line for a long time. Run a few glasses through, and replace the filter if it's due.
Water behind or under the fridge
A split water line, a loose fitting at the filter or the valve, or a cracked drip tray at the back. Close the tap that feeds the fridge until it's fixed.
Built-in fridge running warm
An integrated fridge needs air to flow through the plinth vent and up behind the housing. A blocked vent or a stopped condenser fan makes it run hot.
Ice maker overflowing or stopped
A water valve that doesn't shut off fully, a fill tube that has frozen, or a fault in the ice maker's motor or sensor.
Display showing an error
Large fridges report sensor, fan, defrost and control faults with a code. Photograph it before switching off and send it with your booking.
Doors not sealing
Wide doors carry heavy door shelves. A dropped hinge or a twisted door stops the seal from gripping, and frost builds up inside.
Whirring or ticking fans
Large fridges use several fans: one in the freezer, sometimes one in the fridge, and one by the compressor. A fan with a worn bearing whirrs or ticks, and one that catches on ice scrapes. Fans are affordable, quick parts to replace.
Water filters and dispensers
A fridge with a dispenser takes water from a tap behind it, through a filter, to a valve that sends it to the dispenser or the ice maker. The filter is the part that needs regular attention. Change it as often as the manual says, usually every few months, or sooner if the flow slows down.
After a new filter goes in, run a few jugs of water through to flush out the air and any carbon dust. If you're going away for a while, switch the ice maker off and close the tap behind the fridge.
Built-in fridges need air too
An integrated fridge breathes through a vent in the plinth below it and a channel behind or above the housing. If the plinth vent is blocked by a solid kick board, or the gap above is closed off, the fridge can't get rid of heat. It runs longer and wears its compressor and fans faster.
If the fridge must come out of its housing for a repair, the technician does it carefully and refits it. Mention custom panels or a tight stone worktop when you book, and have a blanket ready if your floor is delicate.
After you book
If your home has a gate intercom or a guard, tell us how the technician should announce themselves. Typically at your door within 60 minutes for same-day bookings. Track your technician live: when they leave, you get a live tracking link on your phone.
The technician tests the fridge, the water system and the controls, and explains the repair and its price before any work starts.
No call-out fee when we repair it.If no repair is done, a R500 call-out applies. The technician finds the fault and explains the repair before any work starts, so you decide whether to go ahead.
Book a repairFridge repairs in Bedfordview: your questions
Why is my fridge's water dispenser so slow?
Usually the water filter is blocked and due for a change. If a new filter doesn't help, the water line may be partly frozen or the inlet valve may be failing.
Do you repair built-in and integrated fridges?
Yes. Most repairs are done in place. If the fridge has to come out of its housing, the technician slides it out carefully and refits it.
Is it worth repairing a large side-by-side fridge?
Usually. The common faults, such as valves, filters, fans, sensors, defrost parts and seals, cost far less than a new fridge of the same size.
Can a dropped fridge door be realigned?
Usually. Hinges can be adjusted or replaced, and the door can be set square again so the seal grips all the way round. Ease the load on the door shelves so it doesn't drop again.
Can a fridge water line be replaced?
Yes. The thin plastic line from the tap to the fridge, its fittings, the inlet valve and the filter housing can all be replaced. Close the tap behind the fridge until the repair is done.
What does a fridge repair cost in Bedfordview?
A water filter, a line or a fan is a modest repair on a large fridge. An inverter board or a sealed-system fault costs more. You'll have the price once the technician has found the fault, before any work starts.
