Samsung appliances are in a lot of Johannesburg homes: front-loading washing machines with digital inverter motors, side-by-side and French-door fridges with water and ice dispensers, dishwashers and tumble dryers. They're packed with features, and when they go wrong, they usually tell you with an error code on the display.
We're an independent repair business, not a Samsung service centre. If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Samsung or the shop you bought it from first. Once it's out of warranty, the technician comes to you, reads the fault, tests the part behind it, and tells you what the repair will cost before any work starts.
Samsung washing machines
Samsung front loaders report faults with short codes. Newer models use codes such as 4C for a water supply problem and 5C for a drain problem, while older ones show 4E and 5E for the same faults. Codes vary by model, so check your manual, and take a photo of the display before you switch the machine off.
Common repairs include drain pumps, door locks, inlet valves, heaters and door seals. A drain error is often just a blocked pump filter, which you can check yourself: see washing machine not draining. More on washing machine repairs.
Samsung fridges
Larger Samsung fridges have water dispensers, ice makers, several fans, electronic sensors and inverter compressors. Faults usually show up in one of those systems: an ice maker that stops, a water line that freezes or leaks, a fan that ices up, or a sensor reading wrong. A frost-free fridge with ice building up behind the back panel has a defrost fault, which is a standard repair. See fridge repairs.
Dishwashers and tumble dryers
Samsung dishwashers share the common dishwasher faults: drain pumps, inlet valves, heaters and door seals. Samsung tumble dryers need their filters and condenser kept clean, and their belts, heaters and sensors can be replaced. See dishwasher repairs and tumble dryer repairs.
No call-out fee when we repair it.If no repair is done, a R500 call-out applies. The technician finds the fault and explains the repair before any work starts, so you decide whether to go ahead.
Book a repairSamsung repair questions
Where can I get my Samsung washing machine repaired in Johannesburg?
At home. Once it's out of warranty, a technician comes to you anywhere in our 14 areas and repairs it where it stands.
What does the error code on my Samsung washing machine mean?
Samsung codes point to the part with the problem. 4C or 4E means the machine isn't getting enough water: check that the tap is open, the hose isn't kinked and its mesh filter is clear. 5C or 5E means it can't drain: clean the pump filter and check the drain hose. For other codes, check your manual or book a technician.
Why is my Samsung washing machine not spinning?
Usually it senses water it can't drain or a load it can't balance, and a single heavy item like a bath mat is a common culprit. Clean the pump filter, add a couple of items to balance the load and try a spin-only programme. If it still won't spin, see our guide to a washing machine not spinning.
How do I reset my Samsung fridge after a power outage?
Most Samsung fridges restart on their own once the power is steady. If yours doesn't, switch it off at the wall for a few minutes, then on again, and check the temperature settings on the display haven't changed. Give it a few hours to cool down before you judge it. If it stays warm or shows an error, book a technician.
What is the average lifespan of a Samsung fridge?
There's no fixed figure: it depends on the model, how hard the fridge works and how well it's looked after. Clean coils, tight door seals and space around the fridge all help it last. When something fails, the useful question is whether that repair is worth it at the fridge's age: try our repair or replace check.
Are you a Samsung service centre?
No. We're an independent repairer. For repairs under the manufacturer's warranty, contact Samsung or your retailer. For out-of-warranty repairs, we can help.
