Newer Midrand kitchens tend to have newer cooking appliances: a multi-function oven with a fan, three or four elements and a selector for each cooking mode, and a hob with touch controls instead of knobs. They cook beautifully, and they're well worth repairing when something fails, because the fault is usually one part: an element, the fan motor, a sensor, the selector switch or the control board.
Electronic ovens also tell you something about the fault. An error code on the display, or a mode that works while another doesn't, narrows it down before the technician opens anything. The technician comes to you, tests the oven and hob where they stand, and tells you what's wrong and what the repair will cost before any work starts.

Stove or oven faults we fix in Midrand
Fan mode cold, other modes fine
The round fan element around the fan at the back has failed, or the fan motor has stopped. Conventional and grill modes still work because they use other elements.
Grill not working
The grill element at the top has failed, or the selector switch isn't sending power to it in grill mode.
Error code on the display
A temperature sensor, the door lock on a pyrolytic oven, the cooling fan or the control board. Photograph the code and send it with your booking.
Touch controls not responding
A child lock may be on, which the manual explains how to clear. If not, the touch panel or the control board's power supply has failed.
Oven won't heat after a power cut
Many electronic ovens won't heat until the clock is set again. If the clock is set and it still won't heat, a surge may have damaged the control board.
Hob zone won't switch on
On a ceramic hob, the radiant element for that zone or its control. On a touch-control hob, the control board can affect one zone or several.
Oven too hot or too cold
Electronic ovens use a temperature sensor instead of a mechanical thermostat. A sensor reading wrong sends the temperature off course.
Multi-function and fan ovens
A multi-function oven combines elements in different ways for each mode. Conventional baking uses the top and bottom elements. Fan baking uses the round element behind the fan. Grill uses the top element, and fan-grill adds the fan. So which modes work, and which don't, points straight to the part that has failed.
Before you book, try each mode for a few minutes and note which ones warm up. Tell us what you find. It saves time and gets the right part to your kitchen sooner.
Touch controls and error codes
Touch-control ovens and hobs are sensitive to surges. During load shedding or a power cut, switch them off at the isolator, and on again a few minutes after the power returns. After a cut, set the oven clock before you assume it's broken: on many models, the oven won't heat until the time is set.
If the appliance is new, check whether it's still under the manufacturer's warranty before you book. If it is, start with the manufacturer or the shop where you bought it.
Is it worth repairing?
Usually. Elements, fan motors, sensors, selector switches, door seals and hob elements are standard repairs that cost a fraction of a new oven or hob. A built-in oven also saves you the work of finding a new one that fits the same cabinet opening. A control board on an older appliance is the main case where replacing may make more sense, and the technician will give you the price first so you can decide. Our repair or replace check helps.
After you book
Give us your complex or estate name and the visitor process when you book. Typically at your door within 60 minutes for same-day bookings. Track your technician live: when they leave, you get a live tracking link on your phone.
The technician tests each mode, reads any error code, and explains the fault and the repair price before any work starts.
No call-out fee when we repair it.If no repair is done, a R500 call-out applies. The technician finds the fault and explains the repair before any work starts, so you decide whether to go ahead.
Book a repairStove & oven repairs in Midrand: your questions
Why does my oven work on grill but not on fan bake?
The fan element or the fan motor has probably failed. Grill uses a different element, so it still works. Both parts can be replaced.
My oven won't heat since the power went off. What's wrong?
On many electronic ovens, the clock must be set again before the oven will heat. If the clock is set and it still won't heat, book a technician.
Can a touch-control hob be repaired?
Yes. Elements, the touch panel and the control board can all be tested and replaced. Check that the child lock isn't on first.
Why does my oven cook hotter than the temperature I set?
The temperature sensor is probably reading wrong, so the oven overshoots. An oven thermometer on the middle shelf confirms it. The sensor is an affordable part to replace.
What do the symbols on my oven dial mean?
Each symbol is a combination of elements: lines at the top and bottom for conventional baking, a fan for fan baking, a zigzag at the top for the grill. Your manual lists them, and knowing which modes work helps us find the fault.
What does an oven repair cost in Midrand?
A fan element, a sensor or a selector switch is a modest repair. A fan motor costs a little more, and a control board most. The technician reads the fault and prices the repair before any work starts.
